Music lessons are not only for their musical progress. We understand that every child will end up choosing their path and may not be a performer, but the music lesson is an essential tool for their growth. Lessons teach discipline and patience, recitals teach them to face the fear of being in front of an audience and preparing for a presentation or major performance, performing duets or trios teach them team work, and having a private lesson teaches them respect not only to their teacher and mentor but to themselves.
This policy is provided for you in order to have a clear understanding of what is expected from you and your child as well as what is expected from me as your teacher. By following these guidelines we will optimize the lesson time and keep the learning enjoyable and productive.

Billing
- Lessons must be paid for in advance or at the lesson. Payment is due at the beginning of the month or at the lesson.
- Payment can be made by check made out to "We Sing For The World" or PayPal to the email address wesingfortheworld@gmail.com Please do not send it to us under the business option, that way either you or us will get charged a fee. Transfer it under the friend/family option.
Behavior
- Students AND teachers are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous, respectful, and cooperative manner. Since many students are still young, I ask the help of parents to ensure that their child behaves well and in a respectful manner to our teachers so that we maximize learning and fun.
- Students must be ready by the time the teacher gets to their home. If your child has an early lesson, please have them be ready and fully awake in order to have a productive lesson.
Home Practice
- The parent is the young child’s teacher at home. Parents are responsible for making sure that the child spends sufficient time practicing.
- Singers' practice time consists of warm-ups (recorded at the lesson) memorization and character work.
- Parents are asked to establish and maintain a consistent practice area and time. For example: If the lesson is 30 min, then the student is expected to practice no less than 15 min.
- We understand that students can become overwhelmed with school work and practice time, that is why we encourage the parent and the student to create a practice schedule that can overlap with their homework to create a balanced schedule for the student.
- Every semester we will do a Practice Chart contest for piano students. The idea is for the student to complete 25 out of 30 days of practice. Honesty and consistency is crucial for the student to win a prize.
- The student’s progress will suffer if he/she does not practice.
Materials
- All students should have a three ring binder to keep music and any other supplies for lessons, which may include: Notebook, pencils, highlighter, markers etc.
- Please have your three ring binder with you to every lesson with all of your music in it!
- Voice students should also have a water bottle to each lesson and a recording device!
- Piano students MUST have their piano books with them at their lesson.
- Assignment notebook for teachers to write their weekly assignments.

Outreach Concerts and Volunteering
- Outreach concerts will be scheduled monthly. Students are encouraged to sign up and perform for these concerts presented at nursing homes, youth centers and hospitals.
- These concerts or any form of volunteering done for WSFTW counts for community service hours. Forms must be submitted for Daniele to sign them at the time of the concert.
- Students MUST be fully prepared to perform for the concerts. If the student is not fully memorized and well rehearsed a week prior to the concert, they will be removed from the concert.
Recital
- We will have our main recital in February. Two dates will be offered, one in NYC and the other one in Westchester.
- Students MUST be fully prepared to participate in the recital. It is strongly encouraged for them to participate.
- All students MUST be memorized for the recital. Pianists and Singers!
Contact
- The best form of communication is via email for all teachers at WSFTW. We will do our very best to respond to your email promptly.
- Texting and calling will depend on the teacher, but we ask that you please do so after 9 AM and before 10 PM.
Cancellations and Make-up Policy
- Care is taken to schedule the student at a mutually convenient time. A specific time is reserved weekly for you that is exclusively yours. If you are not able to make your lesson time, please give as much advanced notice of the missed lesson as possible. This makes it easier to schedule a make-up lesson in the event of a cancellation. Please feel free to notify the teacher by phone or email. We have a strict 12 hour cancellation policy.
- If 12 hours notice is given in the case of sickness, or emergency, every effort will be made to schedule a make-up lesson time.
- Missed lessons or lessons not notified within the 12 hour period will not be refunded or counted towards a future month.
- If the teacher misses a lesson, every effort will be made to schedule a makeup lesson time that is mutually convenient. Otherwise, the time will be counted towards a future month.
- Your understanding of the Cancellation Policy is greatly appreciated. WSFTW makes great strides in providing a fair situation to all students. Please know that we care, love, and respect each and every student very deeply. Enforcement of the cancellation policy is not meant personally, but is simply a part of high-level studies in any leading New York voice or music studio. We encourage you to view it as such and also to read the thoughts above with our utmost respect to you, your goals, and your individual situation. Thank you again for respecting your teachers by following the Cancellation Policy.
